Hello World.

Being Social!

I am remind of a favorite movie– “You’ve Got Mail” where we comely use the phrase “it’s business, it’s not personal” but haven’t we learned yet that business is personal. If nothing else, shouldn’t it begin by being personal. In our new times of being socially mediated, we are even more connected than we ever were. Exercising our freedom of speech more than ever. This is a great time for business as long as we remember how to be personable.

Social media is about conversations, and people have conversations with other people, not faceless corporations. So you want to come across as a person talking with people, not at them, unlike the traditional one-way marketing broadcasts of yesteryear. Social media marketing is the process of promoting your site or business through social media channels and it is a powerful strategy that will get you links, attention and massive amounts of traffic.

There is no other low-cost promotional method out there that will easily give you large numbers of visitors, some of whom may come back to your website again and again.

Remember , “People still trust people like themselves; but the ones they know best are the ones they’re most likely to trust. Therefore, it will be the people in their close networks - particularly from a geographic perspective - that will remain the closest. Brands will also realize that they can’t be all things to all people, and will focus on those influencers who are the best fit for them.” Scott Monty, Head of Social Media for Ford Motor Company

I am reminded about some graphics I want to apply to the walls where I teach near the IT department, “Networking is more than connect wires and cables. It’s about connecting.” So get out there and CONNECT!
